On February 5, 2025, a U.S. military aircraft transported 104 Indian nationals back to India, marking a significant event in U.S.-India immigration relations. The deportees, who had entered the United States illegally, were returned to India.

In response, India’s External Affairs Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, addressed Parliament, stating that the use of restraints during deportation flights has been standard practice since 2012. He assured that the government is engaging with U.S. authorities to ensure that deportees are not mistreated during repatriation. (source)

This event underscores the complexities of immigration policies and the challenges faced by individuals seeking better opportunities abroad.
