Always follow your heart
The founder and C.E.O of Amazon, Jeff Bezos is the richest man on the planet. He has faced many difficult times and failures during his lifetime. His few decisions have gone completely haywire but few have succeeded to such an extent that those decisions have pushed him to the peak of the mountain of success, glory and wealth. What is the secret?
In a recent interview, Jeff Bezos unveiled his secret of taking decisions. He said, ‘I always follow my heart’. He added, ‘Keeping aside the unnecessary analysis, reasoning and logic, you should always follow your instincts.’
That’s it ! That sums up the story. For all of us, the process of decision making is a bit tough and confusing. We often feel overwhelmed while taking some important decisions of our life. Bezos told, ‘Whether it is life or business, I go with my instincts.’ And that is exactly what We also should follow.
There have been times and again when our gut feeling, intuition or conscience is trying to tell us something very important. But we always ignore it. In fact, these are the factors which help us taking the most important decision of our life.
Basically, We always struggle because of the disharmony of thinking by our heart and our brain. Due to lack of co-ordination, Our own body gets divided into two separate parts. One which says ‘follow your brain. Follow the logic and the common sense.’ The other says ‘To hell with everybody, do what you feel and enjoy.’ There is an invisible force inside all of us which pulls us towards a certain decision. Because we are unable to understand this invisible force or say instinct, We often land up justifying our ‘brain driven’ choices.
Well as far as medical science is concerned, the role of heart has always been just to pump the blood to the peripheral parts of the body. If you have romanticized Heart and assigned it a very special job of ‘loving’ someone, than you may find this function of the heart little mundane. But there is a good news for you. Recently, In an interview Dr. James Doty, a world-class Neuro surgeon and author of the best-selling book, Into The Magic Shop: A Neurosurgeon’s Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and The Secrets Of The Heart, notes, “Rather than passively waiting for instructions to the brain, the heart not only thinks for itself, it sends signals to the rest of the body.”
He added that heart and brain, both function together as an ‘intelligent unit’ and they communicate with each other. Now, that’s wow ! And not only that, The heart never waits for the signals coming from the brain. Instead, the impulses originating in the heart travel up to the brain. So, In this Unison and happy marriage life, heart always dominates and he is the boss.
If we analyses the most common trait of all the successful people of the world, we can find one thing in common. That is, they always did what they wanted to do. Irrespective of others opinions, judgement or fear, they pursued their dreams. No matter how stupid their decisions seem, they didn’t care. They were not afraid of failures or rejections. Even if you land up on the losing side, you will never regret about that decision ever because at least, you tried.
Those who ignore their instincts or gut feelings and follow the ‘common’ route of logic and common sense often regret later on that at least, they should have given it a try.
We all are one decision away from a completely different life. And we all know that. What we are waiting for? In spite of being a Uro-surgeon, I am still pursuing my dream of becoming a writer. I am operating and writing also. I have not abandoned my dream. Have you?
