The only way to control

It is the biggest limitation of a homo sapiens that it tries to get control over each and everything in life. When we were kids, we never used to control anything. We were just enjoying the things thrown to us by the nature. Be it sunshine or rain, be it sleep or wakefulness, and be it hunger or thirst. We never used to ‘get control’ over anything. Being a kid, the only way we know was through surrender.

After growing up, gradually we started taking charge of so many things around us. We started controlling our external circumstances, other persons response and behavior and of course the result of our actions. When we fail miserably (and obviously, there are all chances of that), we experience anger, grief, anxiety or disappointment.

The Pandemic has proven one thing for sure that nothing is in our control. Not even the air that we breathe. A tiny organism measuring approx. 0.12 micron, which even can’t be seen with the naked eye, has made the entire humanity realize how insignificant and ineffective our powers are. I like that quote very much which says ‘You want to make the God laugh? Tell him about your future plans.’

Our ‘will’, ‘plan to’ or ‘intend to’ collapse within a fraction of a second and it doesn’t take even a minute before we start feeling helpless. All our desires, planning, wishes and intentions can get destroyed like ‘a palace of playing cards’ against the will of the nature.

We are as tiny and helpless as any other creature on this planet. Corona is a remainder of that. All throughout the life, we try to control external circumstances and time. We need to remember that even our own peristalsis and heart beats are not in our voluntary control. Even the cells within our body do not listen to us and we are dreaming of controlling the world.

It is useless to control the external because only one thing is in our control. And that is our attitude towards any situation. I would call it ‘Corona contemplation.’ Time to seat back, relax and contemplate how little control we have over the external world.

Whenever there is a crisis, it is nature’s call. The universe is trying to tell us something very significant. It’s time to slow down, sit and meditate.

The only way to get control is ‘to surrender’. Surrender is the only way to survive. The harder we try, more miserable we will be. The less we resist, the happier we are. It’s high time, we should all believe in nature’s wisdom and let our self-guided by it.

The moment we surrender ourselves to the circumstances or the crisis, immediately something positive starts emerging out of it. We won’t find anything constructive till we keep fighting against it and hopelessly trying to change it. By doing so, we are being too immature to understand the hint this universe is giving us. It wants us to change. Change for the better. And we should accept that gleefully.

There is bound to be a tiny speck of opportunity and growth in the huge heap of crisis. The universe is telling us to find that. It is up to us weather to reject this or to accept it and go inward to find the transformation. The only way to control is to let the universe take the control and go with the flow. There are more opportunities waiting for us in that direction. We will make only ourselves miserable in an attempt to swim against the flow.
